MOONLIGHT

1.
There was someone on the corner;
was that you last night,
Talking dirty way out loud
and getting into fights?

I saw you with the policeman,
trying to make your point.
He listened very nicely
as he hauled you to the joint.

Chorus.
Sometimes the moonlight
hits you way too hard.
I don't want to blame you
For how it got this far.

2.
I see you have your problems.
I don't know what that proves.
They're written in your shifty eyes
and predatory moves.

Why not take it easy
or better yet just leave?
Who knows what intentions
are hidden up your sleeve.

Bridge.
I bet you're feeling like a dog in the rain.
Where is the right way to go?
Here comes Giacometti;
he's feeling your pain.
There's a little bit of action,
but it's slow, slow, slow.

3.
There are kids in the churchyard,
playing some kind of ball,
knocking it across the grass
and up against the wall.

Out there the streets a dirty,
and the options narrow down.
Life is just a ball
if you can kick that thing around.
