RECKLESS

1.
I must have felt a little reckless.
Things got a little out of hand.
I took a turn in my automobile -
wasn't really much of a plan;
woke up in a foreign land.

2.
Parlez-vous... English?
You gotta cut me a little slack.
You can see I don't know the customs here,
but there is no way that takes me back,
and anyway that deck is stacked
- there where I came from.

3.
I like the light in this hotel
a little past the edge of town.
They fixed me up with a western view.
It's crazy when the sun goes down,
Burning on some distant ground.

Chorus.
They got a bar off the lobby downstairs.
They got a singer and a band.
Always a guy with a roving eye,
and now and then the singer gets canned.

4.
All in all, it's dark, and it's quiet.
I'm here till the money runs out.
There's a chance for a little romance
with a woman from the distant south,
pale with a crimson mouth.

Bridge.
Out across the desert, do you ever arrive?
You got to get to somewhere if you keep on driving.
Now and then I wonder, should I turn it around?
If you lose it in the desert, you may never get found.

5.
They call this place The Ricochet,
The Ricochet Hotel.
You think you're here on a rebound.
That's the story that you like to tell,
but it's never been an easy sell.
